Anthony Yu Tung Fung pleads not guilty over alleged sexual offences against woman

A young man accused of taking a woman by force and having sex with her in the company of others has told a court he played no part in the offending.

A young man accused of raping a woman while in the company of others will take his matter to trial after denying any involvement in the offending.

Anthony Yu Tung Fung, 27, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday in front of Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal.

Mr Fung, of Dry Creek, pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated take a person by force to marry or have sex and one count of engage in sexual intercourse with a person without consent.

“You took a person away by force with intent to have sexual intercourse with her,” Chief Magistrate Hribal said of the allegations. “This is an aggravated offence – it’s further alleged that the circumstances of aggravation is that you committed the offence in the company of one or more persons. How do you plead?”.

“Not guilty,” Mr Fung said.

“On the same date and place, you committed rape by engaging in sexual intercourse with a person without their consent and knew, or was recklessly indifferent, to the fact she did not consent,” Chief Magistrate Hribal said. “How do you plead?”.

“Not guilty,” Mr Fung replied.

Prosecutors previously alleged there was still outstanding evidence from the alleged victim, as well as a “large amount” of CCTV that needed analysing.

Mr Fung, they claim, committed the offences on October last year.

On Thursday, Chief Magistrate Hribal remanded Mr Fung on continuing bail to appear in the District Court where he will await trial.
