Family shares pain after Beachport boat tragedy

Three children have been injured in a boat accident at Pelican Point near Morgan.

On Saturday, about 11.40am, police and emergency services were called to River Murray near Pelican Parade after a boat towing an inflatable tube crashed into a tree stump.

All three of the boys on board, who were part of a children’s birthday party according to 7News, have been injured after being thrown from the inflatable tube, with one nine-year-old boy sustaining serious injuries.

He has been flown to Adelaide, while the other nine-year-old and 10-year-old boys have been taken to hospital to treat their injuries.

The police report that no offences have been committed by the driver on the boat.

This comes three days after two men died after a boating accident south of Beachport.

The boat had capsized on Monday morning near Point Connor and the victims sadly drowned before the emergency services arrived.

Last summer there were 134 lives lost in the water, averaging at least one drowning a day.
