A Mercedes-Benz thief still at large after stealing car from mechanic’s workshop

A luxury car has been stolen from a workshop in Adelaide’s CBD while the mechanic was still working on the vehicle.

Police are investigating a dramatic theft of a car from an Adelaide workshop this morning.

On Wednesday about 8am, police were called to a car mechanic’s workshop on Frome St after it was reported a man had stolen a black Mercedes-Benz sedan.

The car was being fixed by the mechanic when the suspect jumped into the car and reversed out of the shop.

The mechanic jumped on to the bonnet of the car but fell off as the suspect sped onto Ifould St.

The car was last seen going towards the eastern suburbs.

The mechanic sustained minor injuries.

The stolen vehicle has a South Australian registration of DD770N.

Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call the Police Assistance Line immediately on 131444.
