When 7NEWS journalist Elspeth Hussey returned to TV from maternity leave in April she was already expecting another baby – but didn’t know it.
Hussey, who is also a columnist for The Advertiser’s magazine SA Weekend, is sharing her pregnancy news with Sunday Mail readers.
She and husband Alastair Dillon, who wed in January last year, welcomed their surprise “honeymoon baby”, son Monty, in October.
Hussey said they “wanted to go back-to-back quickly” but weren’t expecting to fall pregnant so soon: “It was a complete surprise.”
“I fell asleep halfway through assembling Monty’s cot and thought that was a bit odd. I did a pregnancy test and it lit up,” she said.
“I was convinced it was wrong, particularly after discovering the box was out of date. I raced out and bought two more boxes which confirmed it.”
Looking forward to being a mum to two under two, Hussey said she and her hubby know the gender of the bub, which is due in January, but are “keeping it to ourselves”.
“The morning sickness has been tough with a young baby to look after - and work. (I have had) lots of power naps in the recliner chair in the meeting room.”
