A PROGRAM helping the vulnerable across the world has come to the Gold Coast.
Shopping Angels Australia provides free delivery services to individuals at risk of contracting COVID-19 or those in self isolation.
The volunteers – known as angels – physically pick up groceries or medications for clients and drop it off to them.
A branch of the program is now on the Gold Coast and co-founder Julian Corvin said with many supermarket delivery systems getting overloaded it was a great way for those in need to get their essentials.
“We help the elderly, people with immune-compromised systems and anyone who is at risk if they go out in public and shop,” she said.
Her Shopping Angels Australia co-founder Tara O’Kane is currently in self isolation having caught coronavirus during her flights back to Australia from Peru.
Ms O’Kane has benefited from her own service thanks to angel Eoin Flynn, who used to work for her.
“Tara is a friend of mine and I live near her,” Mr Flynn said.
“When she came back and found out she had coronavirus I delivered her groceries for her.
“Then she asked me to get involved with this program.”
Mr Flynn, 23, is a management consultant and has been using the time on his hands since working from home to shop for others and he said he’d love to help more.
