The former casting director of a number of popular Aussie soap series including Neighbours is casting his net for a popular Aussie TV series to be filmed in southeast Queensland.
Casting director Peter Rasmussen’s latest call for actors and extras has residents on North Stradbroke Island Minjerribah waxing down their surfboards and perfecting their beach bods in anticipation of the June filming on the island’s spectacular sandy shores.
Mr Rasmussen, who also takes credit for casting on Packed to the Rafters, Sea Patrol, H2O – Just Add Water, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, and the Underbelly movies, said he was searching for quintessential surfies and beach-goers aged between 18 and 80.
Think sun-kissed skin, sandy toes, and salty hair – the ultimate beach vibes.
The island already has a well-known reputation as a backdrop for major film and TV series with smash hits including blockbuster Aquaman; Darby and Joan, which starred Brian Brown and Greta Scacchi; along with Amazon Prime show The Wilds and the mini series Safe Harbour.
Mr Rasmussen said the island was the ideal location for the next hit TV series, with the Straddie storyline being kept top secret.
Will it be a summer romance, a thrilling adventure, or a mystery lurking beneath the waves? Only time will tell.
The ad for extras calls for “All looks, all types, all ethnicities, and no experience necessary… and people who love hitting the beach aged between 18 and 80.”
Whether you’re a seasoned beach bum or just love the ocean breeze, this could be your chance to shine.
To catch a wave into the spotlight, prospective extras must send a head-to-toe photo of themselves without glasses, along with a close-up shot of their face without glasses or a hat.
Selected beachcombers will be paid $143 for four hours and $238 for eight hours, with the work likely to include basking on the beach but definitely paid to enjoy paradise.
Unfortunately, students and those under the age of 18 cannot apply for the island shoot, which is set to kick off on June 10, 11, 12, and 13.
So, grab your sunnies, slap on some sunscreen, and get ready for a beachy adventure on Straddie.
