A GOLD COAST talent wowed audiences with her rendition of the National Anthem at the Melbourne Cup today.
Pimpama farm girl and Outback Spectacular star Sabrina Durante braved the wet weather to perform for an audience of more than 4 million at the race that stops the nation.
Her appearance follows music greats like Katie Noonan and Dami Im, who preformed the anthem in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
“It has been wonderful, I am so lucky it has been an absolutely stunning day,” Ms Durante told the Gold Coast Bulletin from the Flemington racetrack.
“The sunshine came after all and just in time, typical Melbourne weather with the four seasons in one day.
“It was just spectacular to see everyone there all dressed up.
“Honestly it has been spectacular but the song was over so quickly.
“I am just a bit relieved, I can enjoy the rest of the day now.”

As a horse rider herself Ms Durante said the chance to see the elite racehorses at Flemington was like “walking into a shoe shop”.
“It was breathtaking to see all of these beautiful creatures up so close,” she said.
“They were some of the most beautiful creatures walking the earth.
“Horses are in my blood, so I was immediately eyeing off my favourites, I guess it would be like walking into a shoe shop for others.”

In the green room before her Melbourne Cup debut Ms Durante found herself slightly star struck to be waiting with Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Sam Smith.
“He was so lovely, we got to have a small chat and we told each other to have fun out there.
“It has been a fabulous experience.”
The songstress was dressed by Myer for the appearance and will spend the rest of the day soaking up the experience.
“The rain isn’t stopping anyone here!” she said.
