A flood of R.M Williams die hards descended on the Toowoomba store for their massive sale event, attracting customers from as far as New South Wales and country Victoria.

The Garden City has a special connection to the beloved brand, with the Carrington Rd store once home to R.M Williams himself.

Thursday marked day one of the 10-day sale event, with the store attracting around 500 customers in the first hour and half of opening.

A self-professed tragic of the brand for the past 20 years, Wayne Preedy, who’s also a member of the R.M Williams Appreciation Society travelled all the way from Victoria just for the event.

Mr Preedy has travelled across the country to attend these sale events and has owned around 35 pairs of R.M Williams boots.

“I’ve fortunately been to the factory a few times and there’s 80 sets of hands a pair of boots goes through, and they’re made here in Australia, you can’t get better than that,” he said.

“I usually wear R.M Williams top to toe every day and I used to buy it for my staff because I genuinely believe in the brand, the product and I love the story behind it.”

Some of the bestsellers from the sale event include laptop bags, men’s and women’s boots and winter clothing.

“The laptop bags are normally $600 now they’re $210, even if you don’t have a laptop buy one of those bags you’ll look as flash as a rat with a gold tooth,” Mr Preedy said.

A Brisbane couple also made the trip down for the sale, eager to get their hands on a pair of boots and jackets.
