‘Revenge is coming’: Daughter’s warning after dad fatally shot

A stunning threat has been issued on national television as the daughter of an Adelaide man fatally shot on Saturday night breaks her silence.

A stunning threat has been issued on national television as the daughter of an Adelaide man fatally shot on Saturday night has broke her silence, warning those involved in her father’s death that “revenge is coming”.

Troy Jacka died after allegedly being shot by a gun in his possession outside a home on Stenbonheath Rd in the suburb of Munno Para West around 11pm.

According to SA Police, a struggle had occurred between two men at the house, after one of them made threats with a firearm that was then discharged. An investigation into the incident is underway. No charges have been made in the shooting.

In an interview with 9News on Monday, the victim’s daughter, Thalia Jacka, said that her “dad died protecting his son – like any father would”.

Ms Jacka alleged that her father and brother Jayden were ambushed by a group that included the latter’s ex-girlfriend earlier in the night at the Smithfield Hotel.

As a result of investigations, police arrested two women and a man in relation to the reported Smithfield Hotel disturbance, believed to be linked to the Munno Para West incident. A 21-year-old woman from Blakeview was arrested and charged with affray and act likely to cause harm, a 22-year-old woman from Munno Para West and a 31-year-old man from Campbelltown were both arrested and charged with affray.

The trio was served a three-month liquor licence barring order, excluding them from the hotel, and have been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on the September 9.

Ms Jacka said the trio “were out for my brother”, adding, “That’s all there is to it”.

“They tried running my brother over and got him with a baseball bat,” she said.

“Broke his arm in three places.”

She alleged it was that incident that prompted Mr Jacka to go to the home in Munno Para West.

“I went to the crime scene myself to have it all sink in. But it hasn’t sunk in,” she said.

“We’re all grieving in our own ways that we know how.”

Ms Jacka added that she hoped justice would be served to those responsible.

“Revenge is coming. And it’s gonna happen,” she said.

“Either the police do it or we’re gonna do it ourselves. It’s just how it’s gonna go.”
