Plans have been lodged for a new $20 million apartment block on a prime patch of coastal land at Yamba.

With its scenic beaches and prized prawns the much-loved holiday town is booming – and growing a reputation as a foodie’s paradise.

It’s proposed to include dual frontage onto High and Coldstream streets on the Yamba hillside, close to the town centre, beaches and the Clarence River.

The project has been estimated to cost $20,016,598.00 and plans recently lodged with Clarence Valley Council are now on public exhibition.

The proposal includes 13 units – a mix of two, three and four-bedroom apartments, with a penthouse above the three storeys of apartments and a basement car park.

A large ‘wet-edge’ pool is proposed as part of a communal open space on the third floor, which is also set to have a barbecue area, outdoor seating, gym and a sauna.

Plans state the penthouse pushes the project over the area’s 12-metre height limit, but by “proportionally less than” a neighbouring building, and that it will be set back from the lower floors.

Parking in the Yamba hillside precinct is at a premium, particularly during holiday periods, and High St is a narrow one-way road where parking is not permitted.

Traffic plans prepared by Planit Consulting on behalf of developer Hampton Projects show 18 regular vehicle spaces, one accessible space and six double ‘car stackers’, incorporated into the design.

Plans are on exhibition until October 25.
