Photos of the dilapidated, stinking Gin Gin house where Pheobe Bishop had been living with two people now charged with her murder, have been seen across the nation.

Now, photos of the home as it looked months ago, before rubbish piles filled the once-tidy yard and the charming veranda was still largely intact, can be revealed.

In another twist, the owners of the home have launched a gofundme to help restore it to its former glory after discovering the state it had been left in by the tenants who moved in three months ago.

In real estate photos taken in 2014, the house looks like any typical Queenslander, with polished wooden floors and old-world charm.

The former family home at 27 Milden St features mainly crisp white walls throughout, curved archways, an airy living area and a unique, handcrafted timber benchtop in the kitchen which appears to be suspended from an overhead beam.

The lawn is tidy and the yard and space underneath the home clear of clutter, in stark contrast to the debris strewn grounds masked forensic officers in blue suits were pictured combing through in the days and weeks after Pheobe’s disappearance.

The home, which is opposite a community kindergarten, was built in 1920 and last sold in 2018 for just $160,000.

Pheobe’s accused murderers, Gin Gin couple Tanika Bromley, 33, and James Woods, 34, lived at the home, with 17-year-old Pheoebe who is understood to have moved in with them in November 2024.

When Pheobe went missing in May, the couple told police they had dropped Pheobe at Bundaberg Airport with her luggage, but officers said she never arrived, and her luggage has not been found.

Human remains have since been located in Good Night Scrub National Park by authorities, but it is expected to take days before police can say if they belong to Pheobe.

In addition to the murder charges, the two have also been charged with two counts each of interfering with a corpse.

They remain before the courts and have not entered any pleas.

The house located 100m from the main street became a crime scene in recent weeks as police investigated first the teenager’s disappearance on May 15 and then her alleged murder.

There were also reports of multiple dead dogs at the scene.

A bus, which Tanika was understood to be living in, was parked outside the home, along with a boat.

It is understood the home, built on a 1158sq block, is currently owned by Jacob Charles Gretzinger-otto.

According to an article by the Daily Mail, the disgusting state of the home had only been discovered by the young owners when it made headlines in the wake of Pheobe’s disappearance.

“It was a beautiful home,” they said.

The couple said Mr Wood and Ms Bromley had “ticked all the boxes” as good tenants when they applied for the rental, which is understood to have yielded $550 a week, and they never missed a payment.

The owners, who are from far north Queensland, have since returned to Gin Gin to assess the damage to their property.

“We don’t even know where to start,” the couple said.

The male owner told Channel 7 on Saturday: “We started a family in this home”.

The couple hopes to “clean it up and make it liveable to get it back on market”.

A GoFundMe page has now been started to assist the couple, named as Jacob and Milena Otto.

It has so far raised $1400.

“The time and care that was put into this house was destroyed within three months,” a statement on the page read.

“We are facing large costs to clean up the property and make it liveable again.

“We would have never thought we would ask for help like this.

“But insurance excess, repairs, the unliveable state of the interior, and the large amount of rubbish items to clean and remove are overwhelming.

“Any help you may be able to give, will be greatly appreciated.”

Two vigils have been held to remember Pheobe, with her sister Kaylea Bishop and mother Kylie Johnson both addressing mourners at the Gin Gin gathering and the Bundaberg memorial.
