A learner driver on bail accused of leading Mid-North Coast police on a pursuit before road spikes brought him to a halt allegedly had knives and a machete in his car.
Wesley Lawrence Wiseman had been granted bail on July 4 but over the weekend he came to the attention of police again.
According to a police spokesperson, a Mitsubishi Pajero was observed on Head St Forster, and police attempted to stop the car for a traffic offence about 7am on Sunday.
Wiseman allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle was pursued on the Lakes Way towards Taree, then south on the Pacific Highway.
Road spikes were deployed near Coolongolook and Wiseman was arrested.
Further inquiries revealed that moments before the pursuit, Wiseman had allegedly failed to pay for fuel at a petrol station on Head Street Forster.
Additionally, the vehicle was unregistered and Wiseman only has a Learners Permit.
A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded a number of knives and a machete.
Wiseman was charged with break and entering a house and stealing items worth more than $60,000; having goods in his personal custody suspected of being stolen (not a motor vehicle); dishonestly obtaining property by deception, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously; being a learner not accompanied by driver and having custody of a knife.
Wiseman was also found to have breached his bail conditions.
His bail was revoked and the matter will return to court on August 12.
