A man who doused a drug dealer in fuel, before the man was set alight, has been jailed for “happily” participating in the horrific crime that occurred in a car park at a Toowoomba pub.

Yves William David Greenhill pleaded guilty to acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm after dousing a man in fuel, who was then set on fire at a Toowoomba pub.

A man who doused a drug dealer in petrol inside a parked car at a Toowoomba pub has been jailed for nine years.

Toowoomba District Court heard the victim, Jordan Moore, was lured to Harristown’s Stock Hotel in 2023 under the guise of a drug deal with one of his customers, Courtney Lee Ramsey.

Ms Ramsey, who planned to rob Mr Moore, enlisted the help of Yves William David Greenhill.

“Cuz, can you help me take this c--t’s weed and rock?” the court heard Ms Ramsey texted Greenhill.

Mr Greenhill responded; ‘yeah, I’m down,”.

“Tell me when you’re out the front.

“Yeah, whoever let’s do it.”

Crown Prosecutor Hamish McIntyre said before the pair met with Mr Moore, Greenhill filled a jerry can with fuel, before decanting it into a pump water bottle.

When the pair got into the car, Mr McIntyre said Greenhill squirted the fuel onto Mr Moore from behind.

It was not known who struck the match that lit the man on fire.

The father was engulfed in flames from his torso to his head.

CCTV aired to the court previously showed Mr Moore jumping out of the car, running around the car park on fire, before removing his clothing.

Mr Greenhill allegedly asked for crystal meth, which sparked an argument where the man was accused of selling drugs cut with other substances.

Mr McIntyre said despite Greenhill barely knowing the victim, he seemingly happily went along with the plan.

He said the impact of the crime was clearly significant, with Mr Moore receiving burns to 10 per cent of his body, including his face, neck, and chest.

“The experience of being set on fire is obviously not one that any right-thinking person would wish upon anyone,” he said.

“It’s hard to imagine … a more terrifying thing for somebody to be subjected to.”

He said Mr Moore was lucky to be alive, and would be disfigured for the rest of his life.

Greenhill pleaded guilty to committing a malicious act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Barrister Scott Lynch asked for Greenhill to be released on parole earlier, given his time in jail had been more onerous.

This included his client suffering a serious brain and spine injury after falling from a balcony in 2019.

The court heard Greenhill, who was rendered a paraplegic for months, was in custody at the time of the fall.

Although he could now walk, he still suffered from incontinence and relied on pads.

A court heard Courtney Lee Ramsey was the mastermind behind the shocking crime was the eldest of the group, Ramsey, who was the only person who knew the victim.

The court heard Greenhill had a lengthy and serious criminal history which included a random act of violence against a woman who asked the man, “what’s a Greenhill”?

He had also previously appeared before the courts on dangerous operation of a vehicle and drugs charges.

Judge Dennis Lynch said, given the serious nature of the crime and Greenhill’s criminal history, he would not let him out on parole earlier and would have to serve 50 per cent of his jail term.

He will be eligible for release on parole on March 20, 2028.

In June 2024, Ramsey pleaded guilty to acting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and unlawfully causing grievous bodily harm.

Judge Lynch also sentenced Ramsey to a nine-year jail term, to be eligible for parole after she serves 50 per cent of the term.
