Three children critically injured in head-on collision on Bunya Hwy

Three children were airlifted to Brisbane over the weekend after a head-on collision between a Rav4 and a Toyota Tarago on the Bunya Highway left seven people injured.

Two days after a horror crash in the South Burnett, a child is fighting for their life after being airlifted to Brisbane in what the Queensland Ambulance has described as a critical, life-threatening condition.

The crash occurred near Crawford about 10.40am on Saturday.

Initial police investigations show a Toyota Rav 4 and Toyota Tarago travelling in opposite directions collided head-on on the Bunya Highway.

The driver of the Toyota Rav4, a 38-year-old Biggenden man, was taken to Kingaroy Hospital and later discharged.

Travelling in the Rav was a 35-year-old woman, a seven-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl, all of whom were taken to Kingaroy Hospital.

The Kingaroy Hospital, where seven patients were transported on Saturday after a head-on collision on the Bunya Highway.

The driver of the Toyota Tarago, a 44-year-old Wooroolin woman, was transferred to Brisbane in a stable condition.

Two female children were also in the Tarago, a seven-year-old and a 15 year-old, both of whom were taken to Kingaroy Hospital.

One of the children involved in the crash has since been discharged from Kingaroy Hospital.

The other three children were flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in critical conditions.

At the time of publication, two of the children were in a stable condition, but the other child was critical but stable.

Investigations are ongoing.
