An unemployed Nambucca Heads man on an early morning ciggie run wasn’t of a mind to wait his turn to be served at a Coffs Coast BP Service Centre.

Travis Frederick Edwards jumped the queue at 6.15am on August 19 and spoke to a manager, who refused him service “due to his previous behaviour”.

Edwards was told to leave the store.

He raged that the manager was a “f--king c--t”, and challenged him to step outside to fight, Coffs Harbour Local Court documents state.

Edwards shaped up to the worker with raised fists, spat in his face and then left.

He later told police: “He was telling me to f--k off. I just wanted to buy cigarettes”.

It was not the 31-year-old’s first time offending at the service centre.

About 10am on December 13 last year, a McDonald’s worker complained about Edwards harassing customers for money.

A site manager approached him, only to be warned: “I’m going to punch you in the head and if I get locked up I’m going to come back and kill you.”

On April 2, Edwards was closer to his Hyland Park home when he threatened a Woolworths staffer on Bowra St, while she was on her way to work.

Edwards “used his fingers to resemble a gun and motioned to shoot it at the victim” and threatened ”I’ll shoot you”, the documents state.

The victim did not hear the threat because she was wearing earphones, but when she removed them, Edwards repeated the hand action and words.

In the court on Wednesday, Edwards appeared by audio visual link and his lawyer Katie Murphy said her client was vulnerable in custody due to mental health issues.

She said Edwards had completed a rehabilitation program and his “mother is very supportive of him”.

Magistrate Julia Virgo said Edwards’s “use of illicit substances” was evident in two of the three matters that brought Edwards before her court.

He pleaded guilty and was convicted of charges including stalking/intimidation, entering enclosed land and common assault.

Edward was sentenced to a 30-month intensive correction order.

He was ordered to abstain from prohibited drugs and not to go near the Nambucca Heads BP service station.
