A man has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly fleeing the scene of a single-vehicle crash at College View near Gatton in the Lockyer Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The Camira man, 43, hit a power pole when his tow truck overturned off the Warrego Highway at Crowley Vale, near the McDonald’s, about 12.45pm.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said three crews and the Hatton Vale brigade attended the scene.

A small amount of diesel spilled from the vehicle.

The highway was reduced to just one lane, with drivers travelling eastbound experiencing lengthy delays.

Police will allege the driver of the truck fled on foot before he was located and taken into custody a short distance away.

The man has been charged with multiple offences, including one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of obstruct police.

He is due to appear in Gatton Magistrates Court on July 1.

Investigations are ongoing.
