A Tinder profile claiming to be an Indian international cricket star was asking a woman in a regional Queensland city to “smoke up” together.
The profile used the photos and name of Ishan Kishan, a wicketkeeper travelling with the India A team in Mackay, and then Melbourne.
The profile also matched his real-time location in both cities.
The operator of the profile said they were “from India but right now I am here” — referring to Mackay in the conversation — “I am a sportsman and here for a while” and tried to get a woman to arrange for her friends to hang out with the teammates, or “even better if it’s just us”.
Screenshots of conversations with the profile provided to the Daily Mercury show the person appearing as Mr Kishan asking the woman if she “likes parties”, “wild parties”, “do you smoke up” and “why don’t we smoke up and spend the best time together”.
When the operator of the profile was rejected by the person on smoking together, they have asked:
“F--k it, tell me where I can get it today”, alongside an eye wink emoji with a tongue out.
In an unrelated incident Mr Kishan courted controversy on the pitch in Mackay as a cricket ball was replaced mid-match, calling the decision “stupid”.
On field audio claiming ball scratching was later clarified by Cricket Australia which said there were no allegations of ball tampering.
Mr Kishan’s management was provided a list of questions about the Tinder profile, and did not respond prior to the deadline.
