A Coffs Harbour man has been told he faces the prospect of prison after driving more than six times the legal alcohol limit, smashing into a parked boat and trailer before crossing to the wrong side of a busy road and slamming head-on into a ute.

Bishwash Kunmar, 33, pleaded guilty to high range drink driving on January 8.

Kunmar also pleaded guilty to not giving particulars to the owner of damaged property.

He appeared in Coffs Harbour court on Wednesday where magistrate Julia Virgo warned him he faced the prospect of jail time and that his reading was “extremely high”.

His lawyer Todd Ritchie asked for the case be adjourned to allow Kunmar to carry out the Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) program, which provides access to a wide range of alcohol and other drug treatment services for 12 weeks.

Emergency services were called to First Ave, Sawtell, about 4.50pm on Wednesday, January 8, following reports of a crash.

Police arrived to be told a sedan had crossed onto the wrong side of the road, colliding head-on with a utility.

NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed both drivers at the scene for minor injuries.

According to police Kunmar had also crashed into a parked boat and trailer on the same street a short time earlier.

His case was adjourned to February 18.
