A father of six who became “enraged” and punched a hospital wall while his partner was giving birth allegedly lashed out at officers and security when he was jailed in a Taree court.

Mid-North Coast man Chase Taylor is currently behind bars for the hospital incident.

Now, he faces a fresh set of charges in relation to alleged court outbursts on the afternoon of June 7.

Taylor was at Taree’s Manning Base Hospital with his partner for the birth of their son on February 7, according to court documents.

He became “enraged” at the emergency treatment being given to his partner and was asked to leave the room.

Taylor left and punched a hole in a wall in the level three foyer between 3.30pm and 4pm, police facts state.

Taylor was asked to return and apologise to staff for his behaviour, the court was told.

He was charged with intentionally or recklessly destroying/damaging property.

Taylor appeared before Magistrate Allison Hawkins for sentencing on June 7, pleading guilty.

His case was not heard until after 4pm and he allegedly became increasingly agitated throughout the day.

As Ms Hawkins prepared to hand down her sentence, she asked Taylor’s family to leave the courtroom.

Taylor allegedly lashed out at police officers and a court security guard.

He was sentenced to a nine-month non-parole jail term for the hospital incident and will be eligible for release on March 6, 2024.

Taylor has been charged with hindering/resisting a police officer in the execution of duty, hindering or resisting a law enforcement officer (other than a police officer) in the execution of duty and assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty.

He has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer has argued the matter should be moved to another court.

The case was adjourned to Raymond Terrace Local Court on August 7.
