The sudden death of a man in his 30s has sent a mine village in Queensland into shock.

Police and paramedics were called to the Civeo Village in Dysart — typically used by miners — following the man’s death, believed to be February 27.

A police spokeswoman described the Dysart death as “sudden, non-suspicious” and said police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

“As the matter is now with the Coroner, it would be inappropriate to comment further”, she said.

Dysart is an inland mining town, roughly halfway between Mackay and Rockhampton.

It has a population of just less than 3000 people, according to the latest Census data.

Many of the Bowen Basin coal mines are a short driving distance from the town, including Goonyella, Isaac Plains, with BMA’s Saraji mine located closest.

Civeo Dysart Village denied the opportunity to comment.

The Civeo head office in Sydney has been contacted.
