A man has been flown to hospital suffering severe burns to his face and hands after a fire broke out in a Bogangar home in the Tweed Shire.
Ambulance NSW paramedics were called to the blaze at the property on Tweed Coast Rd about 5.30am on Friday.
The33-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation, as well as the horrendous burns.
The house was well alight by the time officers arrived, Tweed/Byron Police confirmed.
The man was treated by the paramedics and flown to Royal Brisbane Hospitalin a serious but stable condition by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
A second man, 30, was treated for smoke inhalation and a cut to his head.
The fire is thought to have started in a small bedroom inside the duplex.
It was extinguished by occupants of the home.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, but there is no indication it is suspicious in nature.
