A Coffs Harbour man facing several child abuse material charges has told a judge he still has not instructed a lawyer.
Kody Zecchinati is facing multiple charges of possessing and soliciting child abuse material.
He fronted Judge Michael McHugh in Coffs Harbour District Court on Monday where he apologised for still not having a lawyer.
“Don’t apologise,” Judge McHugh said.
Meanwhile a trial date has been set for August 24 next year.
“You will say it wasn’t you?” Judge McHugh asked Zecchinati in relation to his defence, to which Zecchinati nodded yes.
He is facing two counts of using a carriage service to solicit child pornography and two charges of possessing child abuse material.
In addition he is facing two further charges over allegations of using a carriage service to distribute and access child abuse material depicting more than two individuals on at least three occasions.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Zecchinati was arrested by the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police officers in July 2022, and granted conditional bail.
The investigations began in March that year by the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation, following a US Homeland Security Investigations operation into the use of social media and other chat applications to access and share child abuse material.
In September 2022 he had his bail altered to allow him to attend work at the Coffs Harbour Jetty.
He currently reports to police daily while on bail.
