A teenager fighting for his life has been identified after a terrifying incident in the rural Southern Downs, as the community outpouring of support continues.
Police and paramedics were called to an incident on Acacia and Willow streets in Killarney last month, where a young male had reportedly fallen from a vehicle, understood to be a ute. Police have confirmed the young man, identified as 18-year-old Cody Iverson from Killarney, was taken to Warwick Hospital with life-threatening head injuries on June 21.
The teenager was later flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said.
The young man remains in a serious condition, a Princess Alexandra Hospital spokeswoman said on July 5.
The boy’s uncle Steven Gabriel wrote on Facebook that Mr Iverson “continues to beat the odds and although not out of the woods he is kicking goals every day”.
An outpouring of love and support has erupted from the wider community who are sending prayers for the young man and love to his family.
“You got this mate, fight as hard as you can. We are all praying for you and your family,” one commenter wrote.
“An entire little town is praying for you and your family. Sending love to all,” another said.
“So much love and prayers coming your way.”
The matter has marked the beginning of a horror school holiday period on roads around the Darling Downs.
The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit and Killarney police are investigating the matter.
