A young woman targeted a “vulnerable” pub worker, stole money from a handbag and assaulted a police officer, a court has heard.
Kayla Penitani, 26, fronted Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday before judge Julia Virgo.
Ms Virgo said a “vulnerable employee at a pub” was caught up in the incident and that a handbag had been taken after a punch was thrown.
Ms Virgo said “considering the seriousness in relation to these facts”, she would need to order a sentence assessment report.
These reports help courts to decide on appropriate sentences after a person has been found guilty or has pleaded guilty to a crime.
The reports can identify factors contributing to the offending behaviour including mental health or substance abuse issues.
Penitani was first granted bail in January 1 following her arrest and she has now pleaded guilty to four charges arising from the incident at the pub.
She has pleaded guilty to four charges: common assault, being an excluded person remaining in a licensed premises, assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty and stealing (a value less than $2,000).
The case has been adjourned to July 23.
