A Clarence Valley man accused of stealing two boats, two motors and a box trailer, and who was allegedly found with a gun and a knife during his arrest, plans to fight the charges.
David Glen Clark, 48, appeared before Magistrate Annette Sinclair in Grafton Local Court on Friday.
He was charged with six counts of having goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen (not motor vehicle), and three counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception.
He was also charged with larceny, having custody of a knife in a public place and possessing an unregistered (prohibited) firearm.
Clark has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Earlier this year, Coffs/Clarence Police launched an investigation after stolen property reports were lodged.
Two boats, two motors and a box trailer were allegedly stolen from properties in Chatsworth and Yamba during the time period.
The most recent alleged theft occurred on April 28.
About 1pm on Thursday, May 1, police observed a Ford sedan on Treelands Dr, Yamba, with allegedly stolen plates, police facts state.
Police stopped the Ford and spoke with two occupants before arresting the passenger – Clark — and taking him to Yamba Police Station.
“At the same time, police searched a property on Jack Bulbin Rd, Tullmorgan, where they located and seized the allegedly stolen items.
Police also seized a replica firearm,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Clark was later taken to Grafton Police Station and remanded in police custody.
On Friday, Ms Sinclair granted Clark conditional bail ordering him to live at Evans Head with a responsible person.
She ordered the Crown to have their brief of evidence to be served by May 30.
Clark is scheduled for further mention in Maclean Local Court on June 12.
