One of two co-accused in the alleged kidnapping of two adults and a child late last year has been granted strict conditional bail.

Christopher Amos had been remanded in custody since his arrest following the alleged kidnapping in South Grafton late last year.

Police will allege Amos, in collaboration with Harley Thomas Sullivan, kidnapped the boy, 11, and the two men, 36 and 21-years-old, from Bellevue St in South Grafton at about 5pm on December 7 last year.

The boy was released a short time later, but the two men are alleged to have been taken to a Tyndale property and assaulted.

The 36-year-old was treated at Grafton Base Hospital later that day for bruising and a laceration.

Police will allege the three males held against their will are known to the two accused.

Amos was arrested in South Grafton on Friday, January 17, and remanded in custody.

On Thursday Judge Peter Garling granted him bail.

During his Supreme Court bail application it was heard Amos thought the men had some equipment belonging to him.

Bail will allow Amos to get back into work and see his partner and children, who will travel down to the Hunter Region from Grafton.

He will live at a caravan park at Heatherbrae, report to police every day and abstain from drinking alcohol and taking drugs.

While on bail he has been ordered not to go within 50km of Grafton unless for court appearances.

A night-time curfew between 8pm and 6am has also been imposed.

Judge Garling told Amos: “these conditions are not optional”.

He replied: “Understood your honour, thank you”.

Amos is due back in Grafton Local Court along with co-accused Sullivan on July 8.

He is charged with three counts of kidnap in company with intent to commit a serious indictable - occasioning actual bodily harm and is yet to formally enter a plea.

Sullivan was arrested a few days after Amos on January 20. He is also charged with three counts of kidnap in company with intent to commit a serious indictable - occasioning actual bodily harm and has not applied for bail.

He is further charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty causing actual bodily harm; one charge of hindering a police officer; and assaulting a police officer without causing actual bodily harm.

Sullivan has not formally entered a plea to his charges.
