An alleged drug dealer ordered to stay away from bikies while on bail was found by cops at a secluded Mid-North Coast property in the midst of a large scale gathering of high ranking Bandidos – apparently just to say g’day.

Michael Dobos from Nambucca Heads was on Supreme Court bail when he was discovered by police at a rural property in the Port Macquarie region.

He told police he had just dropped by to “say hello” but due to the remote location officers determined this was unlikely according to court documents

Dobos is facing more than 25 drug supply charges.

The 73-year-old retiree is yet to enter a plea in relation to these charges.

After being slapped with the long list of drug supply charges, Dobos was initially denied bail in the Coffs Harbour Local Court in March last year, but in May was granted bail in the Supreme Court with the condition he stays away from members of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang.

But when officers attended the property near Port Macquarie in relation to a firearms compliance check they observed close to 20 known members of the Bandidos dressed in “full colours as well as supporter gear”.

There were several high ranking, senior members of various chapters across the Mid-North Coast, according to police facts .

As police worked to clear and secure the scene they saw Dobos running towards the rear of the property.

This was a claim Dobos’ lawyer denied when he appeared by video link before Coffs Harbour Local court on Tuesday in an attempt for him to be released once again on bail.

“My client couldn’t run out of sight on a dark night,” he said, due to him being overweight and suffering from colon and prostate cancer.

The court heard Dobos had been remanded in custody for the past 24 days since he was detected at the property while the Bandidos meeting was taking place and that he’d been issued a bail warning one month prior to the incident.

Magistrate Theresa Hamilton found that bail had been breached and she denied granting any further bail.

The matter was adjourned to March 25.
