Young boy killed in buggy rollover on private property near Noosa

A tight-knit community west of Noosa is in mourning after a young boy tragically died in a buggy accident on Friday, leaving residents and emergency services devastated.

A young boy has been killed in a buggy rollover on a private property near Noosa this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the property at Cooran around 3.30pm where the young boy, aged under 10, had suffered critical injuries.

A rescue helicopter was sent to the scene and paramedics attempted to work on the boy but he could not be saved.

The community of the small town west of Noosa have been left reeling following the tragic accident.

Cooran fire station captain, Chester Penfold, posted on social media that the entire community is hurting.

“A tragic accident in this amazing community, along with the hurt of the family, is also that of your local fire crews and ambos,” Mr Penfold said.

“We always do everything we can to make things right, but sadly sometimes that still isn’t enough.

“My crew are hurting tonight but I am very proud of the professionalism displayed in the face of adversity and we will always be there to do our part.

“Let’s all send love and light to the young boy and his family”.

One local thanked Penfold and the Cooran fire crew for their efforts.

“We have been thinking of you all and hope you feel loved and appreciated by our close community,” the resident posted.

Another said “my thoughts and prayers are with all the loved ones of this young lad. This is heartbreaking news for our close knit community and many people will be devastated”.

“Total respect for all those first responders. This is always very difficult and heartbreaking for everyone involved”.

Another local said “Accidents like this are never easy to process and given this is a small and close community I know many in our community are deeply feeling this tonight”.

“Let us be a support to this beautiful family if they need us, and hold each other through this time. It’s a deep reminder how precious life is and how every moment should be treasured”.
