A MAN who rushed to the aid of a woman who was allegedly attacked by a man wielding an axe in a Brisbane CBD car park has told how he has barely been able to sleep since the “horrendous” incident.
The man accused of the attack, Cameron Turgay Bardak, of Wishart, has been charged with multiple domestic violence-related charges over the incident.
Bardak is employed as a security guard.
Brisbane man Fouad Kouzi told The Courier-Mail on Thursday he recalled the screams that drew him to the scene.

“I was at (an) Adelaide Street bus stop waiting to get the City Glider… on the phone to my mum,” Mr Kouzi said.
Then he heard a ‘woman screaming for her life’.
“I said to mum, I’m hanging up, I’m going.
“I was the second one at the scene... there was a scuffle when I got there,” Mr Kouzi said.
“They were behind the car… on the floor behind the boot,”
A rescuer was trying to separate the man from his victim.
“He was huge,” Mr Kouzi recalled.
That didn’t deter him from joining the fray, helping the other rescuer, who was also injured.
“For the love of God let her go,” Mr Kouzi told the man.
The duo managed to restrain the man and told the woman to flee.
“We said to her, just run,” Mr Kouzi said.
Other men joined the rescue ‘lying’ on the man until police arrived.
When Mr Kouzi stepped away, he had blood on his shirt and sleeves from an axe wound the other rescuer received.
“It was horrendous… it was beyond comprehension.”
“I didn’t get a good night’s sleep last night.”
Bardak was charged with striking the woman, with whom he was in a relationship, with an axe, with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.
He also was charged with assaulting her, doing her bodily harm, while armed with an offensive instrument.
Bardak also is charged with strangling her.
He also was charged with assaulting David Keith Sturgess, doing him bodily harm, while armed with an offensive instrument.
Bardak also faces a charge of entering the premises of WorkCover Queensland at 280 Adelaide St in Brisbane.
It will be alleged Bardak was waiting by the woman’s car and he threatened her with the axe as she approached.
During a struggle, Bardak allegedly had his hands around the woman’s neck and he grabbed her hair as she tried to run away.
Police will allege two people were assaulted with an axe in an Adelaide St car park on Wednesday.
It will be alleged just after 5.10pm on Wednesday, Bardak approached a woman who was known to him and threatened her with an axe, demanding she get in his car.
During the scuffle, the woman was struck with the axe and then strangled, police will claim.
Several men who tried to help the woman struggled with Bardak, allowing the woman to escape, and then restrained him until police arrived, it is alleged.
The Gold Coast woman, in her 20s, allegedly received a minor laceration to the back of her head and bruising to her shoulder and hands.
One of the men who assisted allegedly received a cut on his wrist.
Bardak did not apply for bail, and the case was adjourned until July 20.
