Wild train stunt as vandals target moving carriage, flee police

Brisbane vandals have been captured on footage targeting a moving train before jumping a fence and fleeing police.

Footage of vandals attempting to spray paint a moving train in Newmarket has gone viral after their plans were quickly derailed by police.

In footage uploaded to the Logan Graffiti Instagram page on Sunday, passengers can be heard yelling “trespassers” as two vandals, wearing black balaclavas, jog toward the train, close to the railway tracks.

When the train stops, the pair begin spray-painting the side of a carriage, but within seconds they’re forced to flee, jumping a fence as police run toward them.

At least three police officers can be seen approaching the vandals in the footage.

After the pair ran off, passengers can then be heard chanting “go police” and “oh my god”.

It’s believed the footage was filmed on Saturday afternoon at Wilston Station during the final EMU59 run.

The electric multiple unit (EMU) train fleet has been progressively retired, with the final train, EMU59, officially concluding its run on Saturday.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the incident was under investigation.

“Queensland Police are investigating a graffiti and trespassing incident at Newmarket last week. As the train stopped, two suspects have graffitied the left side of the train, before jumping over a nearby fence upon being challenged by police,” he said.

“They then ran across Newmarket Road and fled through a number of properties. Investigations continue.”
