A man wearing black clothing has gone viral after a crowd at a Brisbane venue mistook him for a security guard, with the partygoer happily playing along.

Shane Seiuli found himself successfully playing the role of security guard when attending a concert at Black Bear Lodge on Sunday night.

“When you’re an islander and wearing black, everyone just assumes you’re a security guard,” he said in the video description.

Describing the situation as a “typical night for a Samoan wearing black,” the spontaneous bouncer-in-training was in good spirits while being approached by club-goers.

Despite not displaying any identification himself, a line of people nervously searched for their drivers licence to show Mr Seiuli entering the venue.

Commenters suggested Mr Seiuli should have asked for a door fee, with the prankster responding that he “would be rolling” in money if he asked club-goers for more than just their identification.

Impressed with his ability to keep up the act, commenters praised Mr Seiuli on his acting skills.

“Well I never fold. Anyone hiring at the moment?,” he cheekily responded.

But it’s not just Mr Seiuli getting mistaken for a security guard, with many commenting that it happens to them often.

“That’s why I don’t stand near doors anymore. I’m just waiting for mates then next minute people be handing me their IDs and I just go along with it,” one commenter said.

Another commenter said wearing a black jacket was all it took to be mistaken for a security guard.

“I remember I was wearing a black jacket and I was just standing at the door waiting for my cousin and people thought I was security just because I got big guns,” they said.

“I’ve done this. I’ve even taken their alcohol from their bags saying sorry mate you can’t take it in,” a third commenter said.
