BRISBANE Girls Grammar School has taken out the title of the state’s top performing high school in this year’s NAPLAN tests, continuing its streak of success.
The neighbouring Brisbane Grammar School was close behind with its senior results landing the school at No.2, followed by Brisbane State High School, St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School and All Hallows’ School.
Meanwhile St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School has taken out the No. 1 spot for primary school results, just ahead of two state schools - Rainworth State School and Ashgrove State School.

FLASHBACK: 2018 NAPLAN RESULTS
St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School and Indooroopilly State School round out the Top 5 performers for primary student results in the state for 2019 NAPLAN.
Brisbane Girls Grammar School Principal Jacinda Euler said the school was proud of their students’ “consistently strong” NAPLAN results.
“They take their studies seriously, are encouraged to give their personal best and deserve the excellent results they receive,” Ms Euler.
All students at Brisbane Girls Grammar School undertake NAPLAN, which Ms Euler said meant every student played their part in the school’s success.
She said one of the key elements to the school’s consistently high-performance in NAPLAN and other academic results was developing “a love of learning”, and “the ability to think critically”.

“As an academically non-selective school that awards no scholarships, these results highlight the expertise and care of our teachers and the positive learning environment at Girls Grammar,” Ms Euler said.
“Our girls are taught to think deeply and to think for themselves, and this is reflected not only in their NAPLAN results, but also in how they learn and respond to the world in which they live.
“Being a Grammar School, committed to providing girls a broad, liberal education, students also learn to balance academic pursuit with diverse co-curricular and service activities.
“Supported by a student care system and house structure, Grammar girls develop into confident and compassionate young women.”
As for advice for parents of students set to undertake NAPLAN next year, Ms Euler said it was important to “ensure their children are well-rested and have eaten well prior to testing, and not to over-emphasis the significance of NAPLAN testing”.
“NAPLAN results capture just one aspect of each student’s academic performance against their national peers, and should be considered alongside other forms of school-based assessment to get a balanced view of their progress,” she said.
