A Sunshine Coast woman needed stitches in her face after she was left cut and bleeding in an alleged road-rage attack on Sunday.
Aleisha Balfoort, 31, was driving down the Sunshine Coast Motorway on Sunday morning when she says a black Nissan Navara started tailgating her.
Ms Balfoort was on her way home after a trip to the Fishermans Road Sunday Market and said she was “doing the speed limit” at the time.
In a social media post, Ms Balfoort said the Nissan, driven by a woman she didn’t recognise, then pulled out beside her in the second lane and started yelling.
In what she called a “silly” move, Ms Balfoort wound her window down to hear what the other woman was saying.
“...and bam… a power bank came flying through my window and cracked me in the jaw,” she wrote on Facebook.
Ms Balfoort said she was already planning on reporting the car and the driver’s behaviour but she didn’t expect it to escalate to violence.
“I hope you’re so proud of yourself and your road rage,” she wrote.
“All stemmed from tailgating me and carrying on like pork chops for doing the speed limit.”
Writing her post from the hospital, Ms Balfoort said the cut on her face required stitches.
There was an outpouring of support from the Sunshine Coast community in the comment section of the post.
Sinead Bright from More Clinic Co said she wanted to provide Ms Balfoort with free LED light therapy to help heal her skin where it was cut.
“ACTUAL ANGEL,” Ms Balfoort wrote back.
“I honestly haven’t stopped crying all day, between now never wanting to go outside or drive again and how my face is going to look…
“I feel bad as I know it’s superficial, but I went through so much trauma from acne and scarring from my pregnancies, doing the most to never be seen in person for such long periods of my life, that I’ve spent years and countless dollars to try and reverse and regaining my confidence, only to have it so easily and quickly taken away again.”
Ms Bright assured her that her feelings were “100% valid”.
“We know it all too well how much skin affects our day to day life,” she wrote.
“Please call us tomorrow and I’ll organise some appointments for you.”
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed they had received a report regarding the incident.
Police are investigating the incident and anyone with relevant information is being urged to come forward, the spokeswoman said.
