A big jump in support for the Greens in Greater Brisbane and gains by the LNP could mean several prominent politicians are out of a job and key seats change sides in the October election, according to our exclusive YouGov poll. SEE THE RESULTS.

JACKIE Trad’s fight to reclaim her under-siege seat has been dealt a savage blow in the eve of the 2020 election with support for the Greens surging in the Great Brisbane area.

The Courier-Mail’s exclusive YouGov poll of 2000 Queenslanders has found the Greens’ primary vote has jumped to 16 per cent from 13 per cent at the 2017 state election.

The result will threaten the former deputy premier’s hold on South Brisbane which was already under pressure from an LNP plan to preference Ms Trad last on its how-to-vote cards.

It means Greens Michael Berkman is likely to reclaim his seats of Maiwar while Education Minister Grace Grace’s electorate of McConnel may be in strife although she holds it by a health margin of 7.9 per cent.

The results show the LNP has lifted its primary vote in Great Brisbane from 31 per cent to 34 per cent while Labor’s primary vote is relatively stable at 42 per cent.

On a two-party preferred basis there has been a one per cent swing to the LNP however Labor still dominates 57 per cent to 43 per cent.

The result will give the LNP hope of winning Mansfield and Aspley which it lost in 2017 although the small gains mean Labor will likely hold Redlands, Ferny Grove and Mount Ommaney.
