Miss Eickenloff, 22, who was working in the ACT, had driven to northern NSW where she was allegedly met by her father who helped her across the border.

Police confirmed Miss Eickenloff had been fined and was still in hotel quarantine.

In a statement, Queensland Police her father, who worked in the Road Policing and Regional Support Command, had been suspended over the alleged incident.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct,” the statement said.

“This does not mean the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.”

Other police officers assigned to the border allegedly became suspicious and raised the alarm, prompting an investigation.

Eickenloff was on Wednesday night given a notice to appear on the charge of misconduct in relation to public office.

He is due to appear on October 18 in Brisbane Magistrates Court.
