Police are investigating whether any criminal charges can be laid following the abrupt closure of a Gold Coast nursing home last week, forcing 70 residents into emergency accommodation.

QUEENSLAND detectives are investigating whether any criminal charges are warranted in the farcical abandonment of a Gold Coast nursing home.

More than 70 residents of Earle Haven Retirement Village were forced in to emergency care last week after an ownership dispute saw the facility close its doors.

Briefing the media this morning, Gaven State MP Meaghan Scanlon said detectives were now investigating whether any criminal offences had been committed.

Records of residents, including medical files, have also been seized by investigators.

Federal Labor Senator Murray Watt said people deserved answers over the shock closure.
