A Queensland midwife who has been charged with serious assault, dangerous operation of a car and wilful damage has been suspended from working, the health watchdog has announced.

Rhiannon Leigh Tascas, a mum from the Logan suburb of Waterford, is prohibited from practising as a midwife effective from June 11 for the duration of the suspension.

Details of her restricted working were revealed this week when the state’s Office of the Health Ombudsman announced on their website the registration action.

It comes days after Tascas appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 17 on four charges.

They include assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) alleged to have occurred on February 22 this year, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (domestic violence offence on the same day.

She is also facing a charge of wilful damage (domestic violence offence) alleged to have occurred on the same day, and of contravention of her bail release conditions on February 23.

According to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Tascas graduated from Griffith University last year with a midwifery degree.

She also gained a diploma of nursing from Health Skills Australia in 2015, the AHPRA website states.

She was first registered in the profession on November 23 last year.

The decision will continue to have effect until the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision or the Health Ombudsman revokes the suspension.
