POLICE have arrested dozens of activists taking part in a protest at a Kangaroo Point hotel where 120 asylum seekers are being detained.

A total of 37 people were arrested after they staged a sit-in, refusing to move after a two-hour protest permit expired.

They were taken to the city watch-house.

The protesters had the hotel and shut down its surrounding streets as a third weekend of action kicked off this afternoon in a nearby park.

Protesters gathered in Raymond Park around 3pm, before marching around the block to the Kangaroo Point Hotel where 120 male refugees are being detained.
