The LNP will inject millions of dollars into Queensland’s non-state schools to improve infrastructure, drainage and safety.

The Courier-Mail can reveal the government will provide $12.2m for non-state schools to support parents who choose the school they believe is best for their child, or more aligned with their values or faith.

Ten schools across Gold Coast, Ipswich, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Wide Bay and North Queensland will receive the funding to be spent on infrastructure, drainage, safety measures and pick-up/drop off areas.

The schools including Australian International Islamic College, Bundaberg Christian College, Calvary Christian College and Immanuel Lutheran College to list a few, are set to receive the funding gradually as work commences.

Other schools which will receive additional funds included King’s Christian College, Samford Valley Steiner School, St John Henry Newman College, St John’s Anglican College, The Industry School – Redlands and Toowoomba Grammar School.

King’s Christian College in Walloon will receive a whopping $10.72m cash to build five new general learning areas, a resource area, visual arts room, amenities, administration, staffroom, storage, circulation, verandas, undercroft, stairs as well as for furniture, equipment, and landscape allowance.

The school will also use the funding for construction of internal site infrastructure, professional fees and construction of internal access roads and car parking.

Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said all Queensland school students deserved a world-class education system.

“The Crisafulli government is proud to make this funding announcement while students return for term three,” he said.

“This investment for critical infrastructure projects will enable these schools to better support staff and students.”

Mr Langbroek said the $10.72m allocated to King’s Christian College would help the school build five new classrooms and a range of other specialist rooms.

“We are also proud to invest in The Industry School – Redlands, to help cover the design and construction costs for frontage works at Bloomfield Street,” he said.

“Delivering world-class educational facilities for Queensland kids right across the state is a huge priority for us and we are committed to that.”

Mr Langbroek said the state government was delivering world-class education for students regardless of where they went to school.

The schemes were administered under the Queensland Catholic Capital Assistance Authority and the Queensland Independent Schools Block Grant Authority on behalf of the Queensland Government.
