BRISBANE’S night life will be shut down if nightclub patrons continue to ignore social distancing.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk gave yet another warning after a weekend in which people were seen flouting COVID restrictions to illegally dance and cram in long nightclub entry lines.

“If people are doing the wrong thing, fines will be issued, and if they continually breach, they will be shut,” she said.
“We don’t want to do that.
“We want the young people to enjoy their night out but they have to do it in a COVID-Safe manner.
“And the reason I say that is there have been reports in Korea and also in Japan where there was a spread of COVID-19 from nightclubs.

“So, you know, we’re not making this up.”
Several nightclubs have already been fined.
Ms Palaszczuk said she believed police would have more to say about fines on Monday.
“This is about keeping Queenslanders safe and everyone has a responsibility, whether you’re young, whether you’re middle-aged, whether you’re a senior,” she said.
“Everyone has to do the right thing.”
