Police seek answers on alleged drunken Boyne Island crash

Police are calling for potential witnesses to come forward after laying dangerous driving charges against a 35-year-old Boyne Island man related to his involvement in a three-vehicle crash.

Police allege the man was driving a brown 2019 Mazda BT-50 westbound on Boyne Island Road at 5pm Friday, May 16 when he crashed with a truck before losing control and crashing into a grey 2020 LDV T60 ute travelling in the opposite direction.

The ute driver, a 53-year-old Herston woman, was taken to Gladstone Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the driver of the truck was uninjured.

The Boyne Island man was also taken to Gladstone Hospital where he was treated for head injuries.

He has since been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving under the influence of liquor.

The man was refused bail and is expected to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday.

Forensic crash investigators are calling members of the public who may have seen the vehicles prior to the crash, or have footage of the incident, to please contact police link.
