A pedestrian who was left with serious injuries following a hit-and-run incident has been identified as Kingston father Connor McLeod, 25.

The incident happened at the intersection of Kingston Road and Battle Street in Loganlea about 5.40pm on Tuesday, when a rider on an unregistered trail bike hit Mr McLeod before fleeing the scene.

Mr McLeod suffered significant head injuries and arm fractures and was transported to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

His mother, who did not wish to be named, said her son is a very energetic and hardworking person.

“He’s always been super inquisitive. He’s a little bit quirky. He’s just a really fun person,” she said.

“He’s always tried to help other people. He looks out for his mates.

“He’s going to be off work for quite some time, and he was the main source of income.”

Mr McLeod’s fiance Anneliese Rodger said Mr McLeod is the type of person who helps an old lady carrying groceries.

“Connor is the type of person if he sees someone in need, she’s right there helping,” she said.

“He’s always trying to do what he can for everyone, and he cares about his family more than anything else.

“He’s a wonderful dad as well. In her eyes, he could do no wrong. He’s her world.”

She set up a GoFundMe to ask for public support as he was the breadwinner of the family.

“Connor has sustained serious injuries to his upper body and head that will leave him with a lengthy recovery,” she said.

“Currently, Connor is still in ICU fighting to recover and is still sedated and on a ventilator.

“While he is in recovery, our family will need help to stay afloat and to help him recover from his injuries.”

Police are appealing for public assistance, with the Forensic Crash Unit urging witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV vision, particularly the movements of the unregistered trail bike, prior to and after the crash, to come forward.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The road was closed until about 9.45pm.

Police are trying to track down the trail bike rider who fled the scene.
