An elderly woman has died after she was hit by a car on Bribie Island this morning.

An elderly woman has died after she was struck by a car on Bribie Island this morning.

The 79-year-old Banksia Beach woman was riding an e-bike when she was struck by the car at Bongaree.

Both were travelling east near the Bribie Island Aquatic Centre about 8.30am when the incident occurred.

The woman died at the scene.

A white Ford Falocn towing a boat remained at the scene for most of the morning.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was not injured.

Parts of Goodwin Avenue were closed, but have since reopened.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

This is the second serious accident on Goodwin Avenue in the past couple of years.

A woman, toddler and baby were struck by a ute outside the Bribie Island shopping centre in 2022.
