Parents and children urged to get tested for COVID-19 after confirmed case visited Brisbane childhood centre
Queensland has recorded four new cases of COVID-19, as a student at a Redbank Plains Christian College has tested positive and a Fig Tree Pocket child care centre has been closed after a person visited while unknowingly carrying the virus.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has issued a warning there will be more COVID-19 cases to come in the next few days as she confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 28.
“We do expect to see more cases over coming days,” she said.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said three of the new cases are ‘close contacts’ of a known case.
Three of the cases are from one household in Forest Lake, and live with two people who have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
The fourth case, a male resident of Collingwood Park, was in close contact with a confirmed case, and was at Staines Memorial College in Redbank Plains.
The school has been closed today for cleaning, and contact tracing has begun.
Dr Young said there will be more cases to come, and stressed the importance of the 10 person limit in a household.
Dr Young said it was “critical” people with symptoms got tested.
“Don’t think it’s anything else,” she said.
“It’s most likely Covid-19.”
Dr Young said she was “trying to manage the risk”.
“This cluster is growing,” she said.
“This is time to get out flat surgical masks... it’s really time to start using them.
“I’m not confident the cluster is contained.”
She said there was no immediate plans to make masks mandatory or enforce movement restrictions.
Staff members and parents whose kids attend Fig Tree Pocket Early Childhood Centre and Preschool received a letter from the Queensland Government on Saturday confirming a person with confirmed coronavirus was at the childhood centre on Friday, August 21.
“The person was not aware that they had COVID-19 infection while they were at the centre,” the letter read.
“Please ensure all staff members and children who attended the childcare centre on 21 August 2020 remain at home unit contacted by MNPHU. (Metro North Public Health Unit)
“Staff members and parents/carers of children who attended the centre on 21 August 2020 will be followed up by public health staff and quarantine notices will be issued to all those who were at the facility on that day.
“The follow up will occur over coming days, due to the large number of staff members and children who require follow up.”
The news comes after Queensland recorded four new cases of the virus on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases to 24.
The Fig Tree Pocket Early Childhood Centre and Preschool will be closed for at least one week, the earliest expected opening is Monday, September 7 at this point.

Staff, parents and children have been urged to attend the clinic at the centre rather than arranging testing through other providers.
The childhood centre is arranging a video conference for staff and parents to provide further information and answer any questions.
The likely time of the meeting will be 12:30pm today.
