A Noosa businesswoman has launched a unique employment app where people and businesses can “hunt” and “match” with each other, similar to online dating.

Natalie Cherry has helped officially launch mobile-only recruitment application Hunt, which automatically matches compatible job seekers with employers, and vice versa.

“You can think of it like online dating, but for job searching,” she said

The co-founder said the app - with its philosophy of “hunt or be hunted”, allowed people to upload a bio, photo and 30-second video to showcase their personality, and businesses to share their company and details about their vacancy, including salary.

She said the new platform, using machine learning artificial intelligence, would “match” people and businesses only if they were compatible, saying it was an easy, cheap and fast method compared to handing out or reading stacks of resumes.

“It’s putting the good ones aside for you,” she said.

Ms Cherry, owner of Noosa Cruise and Travel, and Helloworld Travel Cooroy, said the light bulb moment came in July, 2018 when she had to flick through 100 applicants and perform 20 to 30 interviews to find a school leaver.

“I thought, ‘There has to be an easier way’,” she said.

The platform’s release has been delayed because of Covid-19, but Ms Cherry believed now was good timing given businesses were struggling to hire people.

Ms Cherry said the app was designed for all people and businesses, but said it would particularly help small businesses, and unskilled, casual and part-time workers.

She said her platform was different to existing employment platforms, such as Seek, because it was cheap, easy to-use, and saved time for businesses with its unique technology.

“Especially post-Covid, businesses can’t afford to waste money on recruitment,” she said.

Ms Cherry said people have been signing up “every day” given her app was previously available as a beta version across the country.
