The Bank of Queensland has been hit with another outage, sparking more anger from customers who say it’s “beyond a joke”.
The bank announced on Saturday morning that it was experiencing a “technical issue” causing internet and mobile banking to be unavailable to some customers.
It came after another major glitch two weeks ago where debit cards did not work, leaving scores of customers in the lurch. Some said transactions had been declined but money was still taken out of their accounts.
BOQ’s latest outage followed another round of “scheduled maintenance” on its digital banking systems.
Customers took to Facebook on Saturday to express their fury.
“This is absolutely ridiculous,” one woman posted.
“This is the 5th week in a row with no access to money with 3 kids. How many updates does a bank need to do a month!!. After every update, you always have issues and it’s becoming a joke!
“I will be finding another bank.”
Another woman posted: “This is beyond a joke!! Just gone to collect some furniture and can’t transfer funds so can’t pay for it!! Will be looking for alternative banks, BOQ is completely unreliable!”.
In an update on Saturday afternoon, BOQ said the technical issue had been resolved and “we’re really sorry for any inconvenience this has caused”.
BOQ has come under fire over its controversial plan to spend $125m buying back 114 franchise-owned branches before March, with the Financial Services Union saying it will result in more than 200 jobs losses.
