A notorious Gold Coast bikie is back living large on the Glitter Strip after being released from jail following years behind bars, rubbing shoulders with celebrities including boxing stars and rappers.

Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang figure Robbie Corowa got out of jail earlier this year after serving 13 years behind bars for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend’s new partner, who he lured from a home at Robina before firing a sawn-off shotgun into the man’s shoulder.

After being denied parole, Corowa took the Queensland Parole Board to the Supreme Court in 2023 seeking a judicial review of the decision.

In refusing his application, the board found there was no evidence to suggest he had disassociated himself from the Mongols.

Former boxing world champion Jeff Fenech and former world surfing champion Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew both backed Corowa’s bid for freedom in character references to the parole board, but the court ultimately rejected his application for a judicial review.

Social media photos reveal Corowa has been embracing his new-found freedom in style.

Pics reveal him driving shirtless through Surfers Paradise in a Ferrari convertible, proudly displaying a large Mongols gang tattoo on his back while wearing a gold chain, designer sunglasses and expensive-looking watch.

Other photos show him dining out with Crawford during his visit to Australia earlier this year, and posing with former boxing world champion Roberto Duran at the Mongols’ Sydney clubhouse and at Sydney Airport.

There is no suggestion that those photographed with Corowa, including the US rappers, were aware he is a current bikie gang member.

He is also pictured alongside Fenech, with whom he is believed to have close ties, as well as Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr.

He has also been pictured with US rappers Nelly and Chingy.

In his character reference to the parole board, Fenech pleaded for Corowa to be given a second chance.

“I ask you to give this man a second chance to redeem himself and show he is a man who can learn from his mistakes and become a role model who can show there is a change in all of us,” the boxing legend wrote.

Bartholomew, the 1978 world professional surfing champion and a former Labor state election candidate, said he had known and surfed with Corowa since he was a child and believed he was “determined to get his life in order”.

“I introduced Robert to surfing, took him for his first surf at Snapper Rocks and gave Robert his first surfboard,” Bartholomew said in the reference.

“In later years, he drifted away from the surf scene and was hanging with a different crowd.

“Robert had a big personality. He would be the one taking dares and showing off a bit and trying to impress the older crew and I believe the influences in his life in these formative years took him down the wrong fork in the road.”

The Mongols are headed by infamous Gold Coast bikie Nick “The Knife” Forbes who has reasserted control of the gang since being released from jail in South Australia several years ago and finishing parole.
