Four giant inflatable XXXX beer cans have been flown over the River City in support of the maroons ahead of the State of Origin opener on Wednesday night.

Brisbane residents were surprised to see the ‘XXXX GOLD Pride In Your Origin’ cans floating in front of the Story Bridge on Tuesday morning.

Donned with Milton’s 4064 postcode, the cans, which weighed in at 16kg each and 4m long, were flown over Milton by drones.

XXXX brand director Karen Sterling-Levis said the stunt was about celebrating Queensland pride ahead the State of Origin opening game at Suncorp Brisbane on Wednesday night.

“We know how much Queenslanders back their state – it’s in their blood,” she said.

“Flying XXXX GOLD Pride In Your Origin cans is our way of taking that pride to the skies and celebrating the communities, postcodes and people that make this state great.”

Maroons prop Moeaki Fotuaika said the stunt was the ultimate way to “hype up Queenslanders” ahead the series opener.

“We’re ready to take on the Blues in game one tomorrow night and what better way than to hype up Queenslanders than seeing the big 4064 postcode on XXXX flying cans,” he said.

“(It) doesn’t get more Queensland than that.”
