A young man is in hospital after shots were allegedly fired from a Hilux in Logan overnight.

Police said the incident happened about 12.20am when the 20-year-old Springwood man and a 22-year-old Kuraby man were walking south along Logan Rd and walked past a white Hilux.

“Unknown offenders, in the vehicle, have driven forward and fired a number of shots, before fleeing the scene,” police said.

It’s believed the weapon was a pellet gun.

Police said the Springwood man was shot in the right shoulder. Queensland Ambulance Service later said he was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with potentially life-threatening back injuries.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information or CCTV or dashcam vision to contact Policelink.
