A man is fighting for life in an induced coma after he was reportedly dumped outside a Logan service station with a suspected bullet wound to his head.
Police sources have told the Courier Mail the man stumbled into the Coles Express Service Station at Jimboomba just after 5.30am on Sunday.
“He has asked the staff member to order him a taxi” a detective revealed.
“They have noticed his head was swollen and bleeding heavily and his eye was semi-detached.”
According to the officer, staff rang triple-0 and comforted the man. He fell unconscious before paramedics arrived on scene.
It was then discovered he had a hole in the back of his head, similar to that of a gunshot wound.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life threatening head injuries.
It’s understood he underwent emergency surgery to remove a projectile from his head. He remains in an induced coma.
A witness who has asked to remain anonymous, says they went to pay for their fuel when they saw the victim on the ground surrounded by staff.
“It was awful. His face was unrecognisable from the injuries” the shopper said.
“He started off saying ‘am I going to die’ and the staff were telling him they were going to look after him.
“Then he must have felt he was getting worse because he kept going ‘I’m going to die’. It was awful.
Police sources say CCTV shows a vehicle pull up outside the service station before the badly injured man is dumped on the ground.
The victims is reportedly from New South Wales.
The Queensland Police Service declined to provide any information on the matter when approached by the Courier Mail.
A spokesman said “investigations are still on going.”
